Jacques Chirac is the former President of the French Republic. After a long spell as Prime Minister in the Governments of Valéry Giscard d’Estaing and François Mitterrand, he became President - and is the only political figure to have occupied the post of Prime Minister twice. He became the 22ndPresident of the Republic of France after two Presidential electoral defeats in 1981 and 1988. Since 2006 he has been wearing our special edition AG2 GSPR watch.
Général Christophe de Saint Chamas
General Christophe de Saint-Chamas has been Commander of the Foreign Legion since 2011. He is known as ‘Legion Father’, and is directly subordinate to the Chief of Staff of the French ground forces. A graduate of the Saint-Cyr military school, he was allocated on three occasions to the Foreign Legion before going on to become its Commander. He has been engaged on various external missions including at Mayotte, the Central African Republic, and Chad. In 2000 he joined the Defence Ministry cabinet and was promoted to Colonel, taking on the functions of Deputy Chief of the Ground Forces unit for three years. He has been awarded numerous titles including Officer of the Legion of Honour, Commander of the National Order of Merit, the Croix de Guerre for external operations theatre, and the Cross of Military Valour. He wears a watch that was created as a limited series for the 150th anniversary of the Camerone combat: the AG6 3 Légion Etrangère.
Raymond Sasia is the Honorary Inspector General of the French National Police and President of National Police Gun Club. He is the first French policeman to have graduated from the FBI Academy. He was seriously injured in spring 1944 aged barely 17, and was awarded the Croix de guerre with honours. After that he became a member of the Guard of Honour for 10 years, and protected General de Gaulle. Raymond Sasia, known as the ‘Musketeer of the General’, is a Commander of the Legion of Honour, Croix de Guerre39-45, and Commander of the National Order of Merit.
Bruce Dickinson is the legendary singer of the group Iron Maiden. His joint passions are aviation, music and entrepreneurship, and a friendship rapidly grew between the British man and the independent French brand. In his capacity as faithful Ambassador, he wears our AG5 CHL AIR chronograph.
PHILIPPE BOURSEILLER Philippe Bourseiller is a landscape photographer and is also a mountaineer, a potholer and a diver. His range of experience has formed into someone who finds it easy to adapt to the extreme environments in which he operates,thereby capturing rare images. He is known all over the world for his masterful management of light, colour and composition in his work, and has been given several awards by the World-Press worldwide prize as well as receiving a Visa d’Or from the International Photojournalism Festival. He regularly works with major magazines and has brought out twenty or so books. He has been a friend of ours for a long time, and for several years he has taken part in the growing influence of the brand through these incredibly sharp, high quality pictures
Jean-Michel Maire is a diarist and journalist who is involved in several TV broadcasts among other things. He is equipped with our AG6 CH chronograph.
Denis Brogniart is a sports journalist and French TV presenter. He presents the programmes Koh-Lanta and Automoto on French TV. He is passionate about sport in general, and was also in charge of presenting several broadcasts during Euro 2012, the 2014 World Cup and also the XV Rugby World Cup in 2015. He’s a man with a big heart too – he sponsors the ‘Dunes d’Espoir’ [‘Dunes of Hope’] organisation which gives handicapped children the opportunity to take part in all kinds of races. Jacques Laffite is a French racing car driver, who has competed in 176 Formula 1 Grand Prix races, being victorious on six occasions between 1974 and 1986. In the wake of his driving career, he was an F1 Grand Prix consultant for a French TV channel until 2012, going on to be in charge of presenting the programme ‘Dimanche Méca’ on a sports channel in 2013. Olivier Panis was a French Formula 1 racing car driver between 1994 and 2004. He won the Monaco Grand Prix in 1996 at the wheel of a Honda, and in 2015 was still the last Frenchman to make his mark in the field. He is involved in the start-ups of the Formula 1 Prost Grand Prix teams, and finished his career with the Toyota F1 team. He has mounted five podiums, and in 1995 he reached eighth position for the bestworld championship classification ranking. Olivier Panis is equipped with our AG5 CHL AIR chronograph.
Sebastien Charpentier is a French motorbike speed champion, who achieved the feat of becoming the first French motorbike rider to carry off two Supersport world champion titles. Sebastien Charpentier has clocked up one of the most packed success sheets in the Supersport world Championship environment on two occasions (2005 and 2006). He won the 24 hours Le Mans Moto championship in 2000, and also the CB 500 Cup in 1996. In 2012, he became a Moto GP consultant on Eurosport TV. He is a hardened driver and a man of great human qualities that are perfectly in line with our maison. He is equipped with out AG6 Démineur [Bomb-disposal] timepiece.
Christophe Guyot is a motorbike rider and was France Superbike champion in 1998, winner of the Le Mans 24 hours race in 2001, and world endurance champion in 2004. He is now the manager of the GMT94 team, and is engaged with the world motorbike endurance championship as well as being a MOTOGP consultant for the Eurosport TV channel. He is now a member of the French Motorcycling Federation Directors’ Committee, as is his compatriot Sebastien Charpentier. Olivier Magne is one of the former greats in the world of international rugby, and carried off the Grand Slam during the 6 Nations tournament in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2004. He is the only French player to have won such prizes, along with Fabien Pelous with whom he contended for 2 World Cups- one of them as finalist in 1999. He is a man of the field, and is presently a trainer for the French Under-20s team having worn the colours of various great French rugby clubs for many years (Dax, Brive, Clermont-Ferrand). Damien Chouly is a French international rugby player, and is a centre third row position player. He is Captain of the ASM Clermont Auvergne, which has played in the Europe and France championship finals on several occasions. He is a versatile player, moving to the third line wing position within the French team. A trustworthy, humble man, he has been an integral part of the MER-AIR-TERRE [‘Sea-Air-Ground’] family since 2015. Damien is equipped with the AG6 CHL MER chronograph.
Alexandre Flanquart is a professional French rugby player who plays in the second row. An international player, he plays at the Stade français in Paris, where he won the 2015 champion’s title of France. MATWATCHES is proud to welcome this great champion player as an ambassador. Yohann Aby & William Penny
Yohann Aby is an athlete who has clocked up over 6000 jumps. He began parachuting in 2004, and has undertaken over 50 flying hours in a wind tunnel. He is registered on the ‘List of high level sports persons’ as an Elite, and is Triple World Champion, World Vice-Champion, 4 times winner of the World Cup and a silver medallist in the World Cup as well as winner of the World Air Games, silver medal at the World Air Games, and four times Europe champion. Yohann has been a friend of the marque for many years, and is a committed and invested ambassador who wears our watches at all of his international competitions. William Penny is known as ‘Will’ by his associates, and he is a professional parachutist, having clocked up no less than 10 000 jumps. He began parachuting in 1992, and has won an award for high flying. He was the 2013 Freestyle World Champion, the 2012 World Championship bronze medallist for Freefly, twice winner of the World Cup, winner at the World Air Games and double Europe champion. He is also the videoman for his friend Yohann and wears the California AG7 watch every time he jumps.
